Orienting to the Future: IATH Academy brings together education and business to outline tomorrow’s tourism professions

The IATH Experience Center hosted an event dedicated to School Principals and Guidance Counselors: at the center of the debate were the 4+2 educational pathways and irreplaceable human skills in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

On September 29, 2026, the event “Orienting to the Future: Scenarios and New Professions in Global Tourism” took place at the IATH Experience Center in Cernobbio. Promoted by IATH Academy, this key forum aimed to bridge the gap between secondary education and the high-end hospitality and tourism industry.

The initiative was attended by local School Principals and Guidance Counselors, reaffirming the Academy’s ongoing commitment to guiding high school graduates toward informed, high-potential post-diploma choices. The meeting provided an opportunity to consolidate guidance initiatives built over recent years and to highlight the design of new 4+2 educational pathways, created to seamlessly connect secondary education, ITS tertiary education, and the job market.

Dialogue between education, training, and industry

The event opened with remarks from Anita Longo, Director of IATH Academy, who reiterated the central importance of a continuous and structured dialogue between schools, higher education, and business. Defining future skills means offering young people concrete prospects in a rapidly evolving global sector, emphasizing interpersonal, linguistic, and managerial skills increasingly sought after by leading hospitality players.

“Irreplaceable”: 9 human skills beyond AI

The core of the afternoon was the panel titled “Irreplaceable – Human skills that AI cannot replace,”held in collaboration with Lusso Gentile. Nine leading industry professionals and executives discussed the personal and ethical values that Artificial Intelligence can never replace:

• Kindness – Gianluca Borgna (Founder, Lusso Gentile) • Teamwork – Riccardo Bortolotti (Area General Manager, R Collection) • Discernment – Andrea Prevosti (Hospitality Executive & Consultant) • Curiosity – Gabriella Scapicchio (General Manager, Fondazione NEST) • Attentiveness – Shubha Marta Rabolli (Accademia Italiana del Galateo) • Presence – Francesco Pagnini (PhD Università Cattolica) • Listening – Matteo De Santis (COO, Positioner) • Empowerment – Annamaria Tartaglia (CEO, TheBrandSitter) • Recognition – Manuel Pranzo (HR Director)

The discussion highlighted how excellence in hospitality and high-end services is founded on Lusso Gentile(Gentle Luxury): an approach that puts people, empathy, sustainability, and a culture of relationships at the center.

Networking and future outlook for young talents

Following an open floor discussion, participants gathered for a Networking Cocktail in the spaces of the IATH Experience Center. The initiative confirmed IATH Academy’s role as a center of educational excellence in the Lake Como region, ready to support schools in guidance activities and in nurturing tomorrow’s talent.
